Hour-long TV Special: Canary Islands and the Birth of San Antonio | Texas Trail Roundup

KSAT 12, the San Antonio ABC affiliate, produced a FANTASTIC special program on the role of Spain’s Canary Islanders in founding the city of San Antonio. You can watch the whole thing here:

The two drawings are by El Paso artist Jose Cisneros (1910-2009). The one on the left depicts a young Canary Island woman and a Presidio soldier in front of the Alamo, while the other shows the captain of the Presidio issuing a land title to one of the islanders.
